Who doesn’t love a personality quiz? What about one that only takes 30 seconds?
Who doesn’t love a personality quiz? What about one that only takes 30 seconds? If you’re looking for a little dose of fun in your day, take our IMEX alter ego quiz on BuzzFeed. (No, seriously, click that link! We’ll be here when you’re done.) Ok, happy with your result? Awesome! You’ve officially identified your IMEX alter ego. But you know us, we always take it to the next level. So, let’s take a look at what your planner type means for crushing your annual goals and turning your IMEX vibe into an event planning superpower.
Planner Type 1: Floor-Zipper
IMEX isn’t a success unless you’ve logged 15,000 steps before noon. You’ve got places to go, people to meet, and exhibits to see. Only the WiFi is quicker than you—you’re the definition of a mover, shaker, and memory maker. You’re taking that catered lunch to-go because nothing can slow your roll. We can’t wait to wave as you whiz by in a blur!
IMEX 2025 Pro-Tip:
- Check out our updated IMEX packing list and see how you can prepare and repair, even on the go! Trust us, you’re going to need some TLC as you conquer IMEX at the speed of light.
Your 2025 Event Planning Superpowers
- If they want more, let’s give ‘em more! You’ve proven that you have the stamina to do it all and then some. Don’t be afraid to approach your clients and stakeholders about maximizing your event count this year. You can crush it!
- Variety is the spice of life, and that’s true in event planning, too! Since you’ve seen and experienced a lot during IMEX, you’re probably overflowing with ideas. Make those dreams a reality by mixing up your event types this year. Need a little help? Don’t worry, we wrote a blog on how to do just that.
Planner Type 2: Swag Collector
Stuff We All Get? Only if you’re not swagging smart enough! You know which booths to hit and which to miss, and your bag is always bursting with the best goodies. We can find your email on all the best booth lists, and we envy your giveaway game. You’re often first on the floor, and if your carry-on doesn’t fit in the overhead compartment on your return flight, it’s a flex. Show us what you got!
IMEX 2025 Pro-Tip:
- Don’t just grab the good stuff and go (it’s tempting, we know). Instead, quiz the booth staff on the intentions behind what they chose to serve up this year. This will help you get some great ideas that you can leverage for your own events!
Your Event Planning Superpowers
- You have swag and giveaways in the bag, but why should these touches only begin when your attendees step out the door? Lean into the little things and figure out how to craft micro-experiences and incorporate gifties throughout an event. Even if all they take home are the memories, make sure they stick.
- One of the biggest don’ts in event planning this year is creating waste. If your swag is just going to end up in a landfill, it’s not worth the time or expense (not to mention the environmental impact). Here’s a green guide to get you started.
Planner Type 3: Session Hopper
Knowledge is power, and you are ready to power through as many sessions as you can. Every day at the gym leading up to IMEX is arm day, so your handraise and mic-hold game are on point. Your phone isn’t for multitasking or answering emails—it’s for capturing voice memos of inspirational speakers and pictures of slide diagrams. You’ll use the flight home to craft the ultimate LinkedIn wrap-up post, sharing your favorite factoids, stats, and new ideas.
IMEX 2025 Pro-Tip:
- A notes app chock-full of ideas is only worth it if you follow through. Don’t lose your IMEX momentum! Take some time in the week after the conference to come up with five new things you’re going to try this year, five ways what you learned is going to inform and improve your 2026 strategy, and five ways you’re going to measure your success. It’s easy to hit a creative block when you’re dealing with information overload, so trimming it down to achievable and actionable chunks is the best way forward.
Your Event Planning Superpowers
- Sharing is caring! Use your newfound knowledge to help support your team. Try plugging your notes into an AI chat and have it help you summarize key points, create graphics, and generate slides that you can present to help everyone benefit from your hard work.
- If you don’t take anything else home from IMEX, be sure to take pictures of the slides that include the speaker’s contact information. These folks are experts that want to share their insights with you and love talking about what they do, so take them up on it! Add them all on LinkedIn and save their emails. That way, when you inevitably think of a burning follow-up question at 3 AM two months down the road, you’ll know where to turn
Planner Type 4: Caffeine-Powered Connector
Coffee dates are your love language, and you’re ready to set up as many as you can at this year’s IMEX. You’ve got so much pep in your step that we’re wondering if there’s any espresso left for the rest of us. You can’t wait to connect with your partners, make new friends, get on a first-name basis with your hotel’s host of baristas, and spill the tea on the hottest sessions—don’t worry, there’s another mug where that came from.
IMEX 2025 Pro-Tip:
- The hydration struggle is REAL, as is the caffeine crash. Check out our updated IMEX survival guide and our healthy snacking hacks for what to pack to take care of yourself (and others)!
Your Event Planning Superpowers
- Chances are that you’ll inevitably encounter key event logistics due to your caffeine consumption. Take note of bathroom signage for pit stops, placement of caffeination and hydration stations, and see how IMEX staff are accommodating everyone’s basic human needs. These details often slip through the cracks, so take note of the dos and don’ts for your events!
- When it comes to fostering your own authentic connections—you’ve got it covered. But how can you ensure your attendees do the same? Start here with our blog on curating meaningful event moments because it’s about so much more than a handshake.
Feeling ready for IMEX? We can’t wait to see you and what you’re going to do. As always, we’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines during the conference and beyond. We’re here for you!
