5 Reasons Stadium Events Are a Home Run
Ready to hit it out of the park with your next event? Here are five reasons why stadium events make for all-star experiences.
With 20 employees based in the Los Angeles area, Cohera has strong roots in the City of Angels. To say that many of us were excited about the Dodgers’ second World Series win is an understatement (we won’t mention how our colleagues in San Diego, San Francisco, or Anaheim felt…). No matter who they’re cheering for in the stands, our team members are big fans of stadiums. Here, we’ll cover all the bases on why sports venues are slam dunks for hosting events.
1. They’re Cultural Icons in Their Own Right
If you want to take a deep dive into a destination, look no further than its sports teams. Athletics are among the biggest ways locals celebrate their pride, so stadiums are essentially culture capsules. From the colors to the music to the food and beverages, your attendees can use all five of their senses to immerse themselves in a city’s flavor.
Getting Well and Wild in Las Vegas
While Sin City arguably parties harder than any other US destination, it is also a wellness mecca. After all, there are few places you need an IV hangover cure sent directly to your hotel room more than Vegas. Our team treated 1,200 guests at Allegiant Stadium to both sides of the coin with a corporate event focused on wellness and wild Western decadence. A tented event in the end zone featured an essential oil bar, framed by lounge areas and desert plants. For this event, the entertainment included an Elvis impersonator and a magician. The unofficial mascot was a python in a cowboy hat. Only in Las Vegas can a magician, a decked-out reptile, and a zen den feel perfectly at home together!

2. They’re Packing Peak Nostalgia
Baseball may be known as “America’s pastime,” but all stadium sports have been delighting fans for generations. With many arenas and their home teams boasting decades of history, they are a perfect platform for celebrating nostalgia. Even newer state-of-the-art facilities enjoy embracing the traditions that make live sports a classic cultural experience.
Strolling Through the Decades in San Diego
For their 40th anniversary, our client wanted to take their 12,000 guests on a journey through time. With all of Snapdragon Stadium at our fingertips, we provided the perfect blend of nostalgia and innovation. As they moved through Snapdragon’s concourse, every step invited them to relive defining moments from their corporate past while glimpsing the technologies shaping its future. Musical entertainment and interactive games kept the energy high, and thoughtful design details ensured there was always something new to discover. It was a celebration where memory and imagination intertwined, honoring four decades of breakthroughs and the limitless potential still ahead.
3. They Set the Stage for Spectacle
When nothing but going all out will do, you’ve got to give stadiums their due. They’re purpose-built for hosting big crowds and extraordinary entertainment. Expecting thousands of attendees? No problem. Planning for hundreds of performers? Easy enough. Looking to go sky-high with jaw-dropping firework displays? That’s a weekly occurrence. Stadiums have “larger-than-life” on lock.
A ‘Go Big’ Birthday Bash
Since everything is bigger here, it’s no surprise that our client chose Texas for their huge 130th birthday celebration. We transformed the field at AT&T Stadium into a breathtaking sports-themed soiree just 12 hours before kickoff. Over 1,000 guests were greeted by a clap line for their leadership team cast onto Jerry’s MEGA screen as they walked onto the field. They indulged in great food, games, swinging music from a 12-piece band, and boozy milkshakes!

4. They’re Logistical All-Stars
Since sports stadiums regularly host thousands of fans, they are often centrally located and immediately adjacent to public transportation. This makes them well-suited to both weaving them into multi-day programs and conferences. They also make stellar home bases when you want to encourage attendees to explore the destination beyond the venue.
A Presidential Petco Park Party
Located in the East Village neighborhood of downtown San Diego, adjacent to the famous Gaslamp Quarter and two blocks from the downtown terminal of the San Diego Trolley light rail system, Petco Park is perfectly placed. Surrounded by downtown hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues, and the convention center, we love the ease of hosting both large and intimate events here. Recently, we used two of the park’s ballpark suites to host a past President’s Club to enjoy a game in style.
5. They’re Fundamentally Fun
No matter how seriously you take your sports, the reality is that it’s all fun and games. There’s something about the vibrant colors, bright lights, booming acoustics, and arena seating that immediately puts people in a party mood. Even attendees who don’t typically enjoy sporting events will be hard-pressed not to have a ball.
An Ovation-Worthy Event at Oracle Stadium
Our team hosted a baseball-themed incentive trip event on the field at Oracle Stadium. Three hundred attendees had such a blast during this event that they literally didn’t want to leave! Guests asked if the DJ could stay later because they were having so much fun. Now, that’s a home run!
